My Boyfriend Spent His Savings to Save Me, Now My Family Wants to Arrest Him
I’m a 25-year-old orphan. My boyfriend and I saved ₦1.5 million to move to Awka and start a new life. We rented a two-bedroom apartment for ₦1 million and kept ₦500,000 for living costs. Before we could move in, I fell seriously ill and spent a week in the hospital. My boyfriend spent almost ₦400,000 on my treatment. I have medical records to prove it. As my condition worsened, we moved to a private hospital. Total costs were ₦248,000 with a ₦100,000 deposit. My family only contributed ₦143,000. With ₦118,000 still unpaid, my treatment was halted and I’m still unwell. When he reached out for help, my family threatened to have him arrested for not paying bride price. They insulted him instead of showing gratitude. We also asked our landlord to refund our ₦1 million deposit. He agreed to return ₦500,000 but has not paid yet. Now we face homelessness and unpaid medical bills. I’m not asking for handouts. I just want to clear my hospital balance, finish my treatment, and rebuild my life.
