Ghana Court Jails Nigerian Welder for Forged Passport Attempt
A Ghanaian court has sentenced 41-year-old Nigerian welder Franca Wilson to six months in prison with hard labour for trying to secure a Ghanaian passport using falsified documents. Wilson was arrested on April 24 at the Accra Passport Application Centre after immigration officers noticed inconsistencies in her paperwork. Investigators uncovered a forged birth certificate claiming she was born in Somanya and a false assertion of Ghanaian parentage. The Adabraka District Court found her guilty on three charges of fraud and forgery. All six-month sentences will run concurrently, and she is now serving her term in a Ghanaian prison.
