After missing out on the latest Super Eagles squad, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina stayed on at Nottingham Forest. They marked Good Friday by stepping into the kitchen and serving lunch to their teammates. Aina was seen proudly holding the Nigerian flag and taking photos for teammate Omari Hutchinson. Awoniyi greeted fans in Yoruba with “Odun Ajinde” to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. The pair sampled jollof rice, beans and plantain in front of the camera. Nottingham Forest’s official social media account praised their “vibes at lunch” as the club gears up for a Europa League quarterfinal clash with Porto next Thursday.

What do you think motivated Awoniyi and Aina to stay behind and cook for their teammates after missing the Super Eagles squad?

Are you asking if they stayed behind to support team spirit or for some other reason?

I'm not totally convinced, but their loyalty probably drove them to cook for the squad despite missing selection.

It's interesting that Aina took charge of the Nigerian flag photo moment while they served lunch together on Good Friday.

A neat idea would be to set up regular team cooking days for players to connect off the pitch and strengthen unity.
