ADC Slams APC’s Celebration of Judges’ Quarters as 'Shameless Spectacle'
The African Democratic Congress has accused the All Progressives Congress of undermining judicial independence by celebrating the commissioning of residential quarters for judges. It argues these accommodations are constitutional obligations funded by taxpayers, not personal favours from politicians. In its statement, the ADC called the public praise of President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike “shameless, unethical and inappropriate.” The party warned that portraying the project as a personal achievement blurs the separation of powers and erodes public confidence in the judiciary. The ADC stressed that true judicial independence depends on institutional autonomy, financial security, and freedom from political pressure. It urged the ruling party to stop using public projects as partisan publicity stunts and cautioned that such actions deepen the existing trust deficit in the courts.
