Bayelsa Police Arrest Three Civil Servants for Alleged ₦500m Equipment Theft

The Bayelsa State Police Command has detained three civil servants accused of stealing government equipment valued at around ₦500 million. A routine inspection of the ministry’s equipment store in Yenagoa reportedly revealed missing assets, including a 110 KVA Perkins generator, forklift, lathe machines and electric filling machines. Investigations led by the State Criminal Investigation Department have produced confessions from the suspects, identified as staff of the Ministry of Labour, Empowerment and Productivity. One recovered forklift was seized from an accomplice now in custody. The suspects will be charged to court after the probe concludes. The police command reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding public assets and prosecuting property-related offences.
