Lagos Clears 9MW Embedded Power Plant in Isolo, Eyeing 24-Hour Electricity
Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a licence for Isolo Power Gen Limited to build a 9MW embedded power plant along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. The project aims to serve Isolo and neighbouring communities with stable supply and could enable 24-hour electricity for homes and businesses. Isolo Power Gen was one of 14 firms granted licences, and the only one cleared for a 9MW project in this round. LASERC records show around 40 other power schemes are pending approval across embedded generation, captive power, and mini-grids. The regulatory reforms follow the Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 and a 2023 constitutional amendment giving states control over their own electricity markets. In March 2026, the state inaugurated LASERC’s board to oversee generation, distribution, and tariffs.
