Lagos State Cracks Down on Roadside Ram Sales Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir
Lagos State Government has reiterated its ban on selling and displaying rams and other livestock on highways, medians and unauthorised public spaces ahead of Eid-el-Kabir. At a media briefing, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources stressed that street trading in livestock on major roads, gardens and parks will not be tolerated. He warned that enforcement measures will intensify against anyone erecting illegal stalls or turning open spaces into markets or refuse dumps. Residents are urged to comply with environmental laws and keep the state clean. Proper bagging and disposal of waste from animal slaughter should be done at designated collection points for evacuation by LAWMA. The commissioner highlighted environmental sustainability as vital for public health and economic growth. Lagosians are encouraged to use parks and recreational centres for family gatherings during the festive period.
