Africans: Scripture Warns God Will Punish Willful Ignorance

Africans: Scripture Warns God Will Punish Willful Ignorance

As Africans, we must not settle for willful ignorance. This warning isn’t about those without access to information, but about anyone who ignores facts and relies on guesses in their faith. Deuteronomy 13:14 urges us to investigate and confirm what is true. Proverbs 18:15 reminds us that a discerning heart gains knowledge, and Ecclesiastes 7:12 shows how wisdom preserves life. Proverbs 14:18 contrasts foolishness with the reward of knowledge. Colonial missionaries and outside influences distorted our heritage by promoting wrong interpretations of Scripture. Today, abundant evidence reveals how religion was used to control our ancestors’ minds. Embracing truth—from recognizing the Messiah’s identity in Scripture to testing every claim—will strengthen our faith. Let us meditate on, apply, and share these teachings.

I'm not convinced everyone ignoring scriptures chooses ignorance willfully; sometimes cultural traditions fill gaps when formal guidance is scarce.

A practical step could be organizing local study groups to compare scriptural interpretations and share verified insights among community members.
