Surulere Community Petitions Federal Rep Over Years-Long Road Delay and Shoddy Works

Surulere Community Petitions Federal Rep Over Years-Long Road Delay and Shoddy Works — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Residents of the Anjorin Community Development Association in Baruwa Ward have petitioned their federal representative, Lanre Okunola, over stalled and poorly executed road works on Anjorin Street. Despite drainage clearance in August 2024, weeds now choke the roadside and broken culverts have gone unrepaired for nearly two years. They accuse unqualified artisans of using undersized iron rods without any engineer on site. The community compares Anjorin’s two-year delay and substandard work with nearby Onadeko Street, which was completed in seven months earlier this year. The petition calls on the legislator to visit the area unannounced and ensure that taxpayers’ funds are properly used.

It's telling that weeds have taken over the cleared drainage in just months after that August cleanup.

Surely blaming the federal rep ignores local construction teams' recurring negligence and lack of oversight on Anjorin Street.

One step residents could take is documenting each road failure with photos and submitting them alongside follow-up letters.
