UK Police Probe Death of Nigerian Nurse After Traditional Marriage Visit
Nnenna Chima was a UK-registered nurse from Ebonyi State working in Leeds. She returned home in early 2025 to perform her traditional marriage introduction and celebrate her birthday. Friends remembered her as hardworking, dedicated, and full of life. She flew back to Leeds shortly afterward but went missing days later. On April 29, West Yorkshire Police found her body alongside that of 32-year-old Thomas Oko in a flat on Dawlish Road, Osmondthorpe. Officers treated both deaths as suspicious at first but later said they were not seeking any other suspects. A file has been prepared for the coroner to determine the exact cause of both deaths. Her tragic story struck a chord within the Nigerian diaspora and the nursing community. Tributes poured in from colleagues and friends mourning a life cut short at its peak.
