Nigerians Detained at Johannesburg Airport for Social Media Post

I and three other Nigerians were held at Johannesburg Airport despite having valid visas and complete travel documents. Officials singled us out without explanation and seized one of our phones. They have refused to let us contact family or legal help. Now they want to take my phone too. We asked to book another flight home immediately, but they denied our request. I’m sharing this so the world knows our situation. If anything happens to us, South Africa should be held responsible.

Has anyone else experienced similar treatment at Johannesburg Airport despite valid travel documents?

I faced similar delays at Johannesburg once, even with correct papers. It's stressful but you're not alone.

That is worrying, can't believe they're stopping travellers with valid papers. Something's off here.

It seems strange that visa status and complete documents could be ignored like that without any explanation from officials.

Maybe there's more context we're missing before blaming the airport staff entirely for the phone seizure and travel hold-up.

If you haven't already, report this incident to your embassy immediately and document every interaction for possible legal follow-up.
