Valencia Backs Isak and Gyökeres to Challenge for World Cup Golden Boot

Valencia Backs Isak and Gyökeres to Challenge for World Cup Golden Boot

Former Man United captain Antonio Valencia has tipped Swedish duo Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres as serious contenders for the Golden Boot at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. His endorsement followed both strikers finding the net in Sweden’s 5-1 Group F win over Tunisia. Valencia says the pair must refine their movement, show more hold-up play and use their intelligence on the pitch. “It could suit Gyökeres more,” he added. Sweden next faces the Netherlands on June 20, while Tunisia take on Japan the same day. Stay tuned for more World Cup news and fixtures.

Do you think Isak and Gyökeres can really outscore the usual favorites and win the Golden Boot this World Cup?

They've shown strong scoring form, so they could upset the usual frontrunners for that Golden Boot.

It seems rare for Swedish strikers to lead the scoring charts, especially against more prolific goal getters from bigger football nations.

I'm not convinced one strong group match performance is enough evidence to predict a Golden Boot winner just yet.
