Victoria Inyama Apologises for Praising FGM, Vows to Do Better
Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama has apologised to the public after praising female circumcision during a recent Instagram Live. She admits she was “totally uninformed” about the severity of modern FGM until a midwife and her church prophetess shared firsthand accounts of its risks and trauma. Victoria explains her own childhood circumcision experience was different and says she regrets any offence caused. She vows to learn more and speak responsibly on the subject. The actress also opened up about the abuse she endured in her marriage to Godwin Okrim, detailing physical, emotional and psychological trauma, but says she does not regret stepping back from acting to raise their three children.
