Academic Doctors Demand Transparent Probe into Mary Habila’s Death
The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of 26-year-old Mary Habila at the residence of the Minister of Works in Uburu, Ebonyi State. Heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends and loved ones. Given the conflicting accounts and widespread public concern, there is an urgent need for a thorough, evidence-based investigation. The Nigeria Police and all relevant agencies must examine forensic evidence, interview witnesses and review medical records without fear or favour. An independent autopsy should follow international forensic standards and involve accredited pathologists to ensure credibility. Every aspect of the case must be open to transparent scrutiny. The media and public are urged to avoid speculation and unverified claims that could jeopardise the investigation. Responsible discourse will support the search for truth and affirm that every Nigerian life matters.
