Stuck with My Aunt’s Harsh Treatment – Should I Stay or Go Home?
I’m in my early twenties and lost my father in 2024. Since then, my mother and siblings have struggled. My aunt, who is in her thirties and runs a successful jewelry and spa business, offered to let one of us live with her. I moved in and she even helped me gain admission to an open university and taught me tailoring. Despite her support, she speaks to me harshly, treats me badly and once threatened to send me back home. Her attitude has been rough for almost two years. Last year she slapped me, and recently I decided I couldn’t take it anymore. I went to stay with a friend on Saturday. My aunt has been calling and begging me to return, and my family knows what happened. One sibling also told me to leave, but I hoped things would improve. Now I’m torn. What should I do? Should I go back to her house despite the mistreatment, or return to my mother and siblings?
