Nigeria Reschedules First Evacuation Flight for Citizens in South Africa
The federal government has moved the first evacuation flight for Nigerians in South Africa from Monday to Wednesday due to logistical challenges. President Tinubu approved five repatriation flights to bring home those who wish to return. Air Peace will operate the maiden flight carrying about 270 passengers from Johannesburg in the evening once all necessary clearances are in place. Screening for returnees has also been extended to Wednesday to ensure everyone can be processed. So far, more than 500 Nigerians have been screened and cleared for evacuation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
