FIFA Increases Club Payout to $355 Million for World Cup Players

FIFA Increases Club Payout to $355 Million for World Cup Players

FIFA has raised its Club Benefits Programme to $355 million for this World Cup cycle, a 70 percent boost on the payout for Qatar 2022. The expanded package covers both finals and qualifiers for the first time. Clubs will share $250 million for players at the finals, with a minimum payment of $5,000 per player per day. A further $100 million is allocated to appearances in qualifying matches, at $2,362 per player per game. The remaining $5 million covers administrative costs and supports global club football. The 2026 World Cup expands to 48 teams, 104 matches and a 39-day schedule. FIFA expects revenue to be 56 percent higher than in 2022 and 72 percent up for the full four-year cycle ending in 2026.

Do you think this 70 percent payout boost will motivate clubs to release their best players for the qualifiers too?

Just to clarify, are you asking if clubs will get boosted payments for qualifiers as well or only for the World Cup finals?

It's interesting that qualifiers are finally included in the Club Benefits Programme alongside the finals for this World Cup cycle.

I'm not convinced clubs will actually see much change on the pitch just because of this financial boost from FIFA.

Maybe clubs should start budgeting that extra payout to develop youth academies and ensure long-term benefits beyond just player fees.
