FG Launches PenCare: Free Healthcare for Pensioners Earning Below ₦70,000
PenCom has launched a free healthcare scheme called PenCare for retirees who earn under ₦70,000 monthly. The pilot phase will cover 30,000 pensioners aged 60 and above under the Contributory Pension Scheme. Eligible pensioners can register through PenCom or their Pension Fund Administrators. Registration opened on a first-come, first-served basis and retirees are urged to sign up promptly to secure their spot. The initiative aims to ease the burden of rising medical costs on fixed incomes. PenCom describes it as part of its social responsibility to preserve the dignity, health, and well-being of elderly Nigerians. This scheme addresses long-standing gaps in pensioner welfare and reflects PenCom’s commitment to improving quality of life for low-income retirees.
