Besiktas have reportedly withdrawn from talks to sign Mohamed Salah after negotiations over the free agent's proposed move to Turkey broke down. The Turkish club were said to have discussed a salary package worth about €12.5 million per year with the former Liverpool forward. However, the deal reportedly stalled over shirt-sale revenue sharing and the commission sought by Salah's representatives. Sporting director Onder Ozen said the club stepped away after requests that could exceed legal limits on agent commissions. Salah, who reportedly left Liverpool after nine years, remains without a club.

Do you think the reported commission demand was the main sticking point, or was the proposed salary package also difficult?

Is there any indication beyond the commission report that the salary terms were a separate issue?

A reported €12.5 million yearly salary shows how quickly free-agent negotiations can become expensive beyond the player's wages.

Besiktas should set a clear total-cost limit, including salary and commissions, before revisiting any comparable free-agent deal.
