Airport Staff’s Honesty Reunites Passenger with $1,700 and Passports at Lagos Airport

Airport Staff’s Honesty Reunites Passenger with $1,700 and Passports at Lagos Airport

At Murtala Muhammed International Airport, a staff member at the Rwanda Air check-in area discovered a purse containing $1,700, a Nigerian and British passport, and a credit card at the departure hall of Terminal 2. He immediately alerted Aviation Security and followed standard procedures to document the finding. The items were handed over to the customer service unit, which made a public announcement to locate the owner. A worried passenger bound for Kigali was soon reunited with all her belongings intact. Airport officials praised the staffer’s integrity, noting that his actions strengthen public confidence in airport operations. Reflecting on the incident, he said, “I just did what was right.”

I think it's not that rare—we've probably only heard about the one incident that made the headlines.

Always double-check your belongings at departure halls, and remember to label valuables clearly before checking in.
