ADC Chairman Bala Leads Abuja Protest Against David Mark Faction

ADC Chairman Bala Leads Abuja Protest Against David Mark Faction

Supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) marched through Abuja to oppose the involvement of senior opposition figures in the party. The rally was organized by factional National Chairman Nafiu Bala, who warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and ex-Senate President David Mark to steer clear of ADC affairs. Bala was joined by ADC House of Representatives member Leke Abejide and hundreds of supporters carrying placards that read “Woe to Political Marauders” and “Hon. Nafiu Bala, We Stand With You.” They accused the rival group led by David Mark of trying to hijack the party’s leadership. Observers note this protest appears to counter a recent rally by the David Mark faction outside the Independent National Electoral Commission. ADC insiders say legal and political battles over party recognition are ongoing.

What do you think motivates Bala's decision to challenge senior opposition involvement in the ADC?

Could Bala's protest be aimed at personal clout over party solidarity rather than genuine policy concerns?

I doubt Bala's really targeting senior figures; seems more about rallying young supporters than shutting anyone out.

The protest underscores factional divides more than any clear policy message from the ADC's leadership.

I'm not convinced that a protest led by one faction will resonate with most ADC members across Nigeria.

To move forward, ADC leaders should host inclusive town halls to address member concerns before escalating any public demonstrations.
