Okowa Blasts Plot to Merge Anioma with Orlu and Shift Capital from Asaba

Attacks on Okowa are coming from people outside Delta North who have no real stake in Anioma’s future. Okowa warns of a hidden plan to merge Anioma with the Orlu state project and move the capital from Asaba to Orlu in present-day Imo State. I recall how Ohanneze consultants once told Ned they preferred this merger and a new capital location. He declared: “An Asaba daughter fought for us and today we have Asaba as headquarters. Somebody who doesn’t even understand how it came suddenly wants to wish away that headquarters. It’s terrible. It’s unwise.” He argued that Anioma must remain within the Southeast’s nine LGAs and keep Asaba as its seat. This exposes what looks like a grand land-grabbing scheme behind the Anioma project and explains why Okowa rejects the direction Ned is steering the new state.

How realistic is this alleged plot to merge Anioma with Orlu and move our capital away from Asaba?

I understand your concern—do we know if any official statement really proposes merging Anioma with Orlu?

I get your worry, but this plan seems speculative until proven with solid evidence.

It's interesting that the accusations come mostly from outside Delta North with no real stake in Anioma's future.

I'm not convinced there's a hidden Orlu state agenda—political rivals might be exaggerating to gain leverage against Okowa.

Local leaders should demand transparent feasibility studies and public consultations before any boundary or capital changes proceed.
