Labour Party Split Deepens as Otti and Abure Battle Over 2027 Nomination Forms
A new leadership crisis has erupted inside the Labour Party as Governor Alex Otti and national leaders confront former Chairman Julius Abure over sale of nomination forms. Photos emerged showing Abure presenting forms to party members in Abia State. The national secretariat called those documents “worthless paper” and warned aspirants against dealing with his camp. National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa and Otti’s team say court rulings and INEC recognise Senator Nenadi Usman as interim leader. They accuse Abure of contempt of court and misleading supporters. Abure’s faction insists its mandate remains valid until the Supreme Court rules. The rift deepens as the party races to prepare for the 2027 general elections.
