Judge Reserves Ruling on ‘Blessing CEO’s’ N36m Bail Application
The Federal High Court in Ikoyi has reserved judgment until June 9, 2026 on the bail application of social media influencer Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, known as Blessing CEO. She faces two counts of obtaining N36 million by false pretence and stealing, brought by the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate. During Friday’s hearing, defence counsel P.I. Nwafuru urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms. Prosecution counsel S.I. Suleiman opposed this, noting that the defendant failed to honour EFCC invitations and urging an accelerated hearing. The court heard that a 28-paragraph counter-affidavit was filed by the investigating officer, Bufa Regina Okangbe. Okangbe testified to a trail of bank transfers, property records and witness statements indicating the influencer received N36 million for a lease on a property she did not own. The EFCC wrote to banks, the Lagos State Land Bureau and the Corporate Affairs Commission as part of its investigation. Defence objections to the admissibility of extra-judicial statements were overruled by Justice Dipeolu under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. The matter has been adjourned until June 9 for the bail ruling and June 22 for the continuation of the trial.
