OAU Clarifies Cancellation of Peter Obi’s Proposed Lecture

Obafemi Awolowo University says it declined the lecture invitation because authorities learned of Dr. Peter Obi’s visit only one day before the event. The University explained that short notice made it impossible to complete necessary security and logistical arrangements, including coordination with the police and DSS. Declining Oduduwa Hall was a safety and protocol decision, not a sign of disrespect to Dr. Obi. The Vice Chancellor remains open to hosting distinguished guests when due process and adequate notice are observed.
