Asiya El-Rufai Appeals to President Tinubu for Her Husband’s Rights

Hajiya Asiya El-Rufai urged President Bola Tinubu to guarantee fair treatment and basic constitutional rights for her husband, the former Kaduna State governor. She spoke after the ICPC arrested his personal doctor, stressing that her husband’s health and access to legal counsel have been severely restricted. Asiya emphasised that the family is not asking for political intervention in the judicial process but only for humane conditions. She highlighted her own campaign efforts and her husband’s support for Tinubu in the 2023 election, asking, “Is this what our family deserves?” She called for reasonable bail and regular family and medical visits, warning that the current isolation amounts to psychological warfare. “Let the court decide if he is guilty or innocent, but allow him to prepare his defence,” she said.
