Nathan Ake Completes Move to Turkish Giants Fenerbahce — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Nathan Ake has sealed a transfer from Manchester City to Turkish giants Fenerbahce. The club confirmed the deal on Friday but did not disclose the fee or contract length. The 31-year-old Dutch defender joined City from Bournemouth in 2020 for around €45 million. He made 177 appearances across all competitions and won 12 major trophies with the Premier League side. Ake featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing in three of the Netherlands’ four games and starting in the round of 32 against Morocco. Fenerbahce missed out on a 12th straight Turkish league title, finishing one point behind Galatasaray. They have since replaced manager Domenico Tedesco with Ismail Kartal for his fourth spell.

Fenerbahce chose not to disclose fee or contract length, which is unusual. They rarely keep such details under wraps.

I agree, it's surprising Fenerbahce stayed so quiet on the fee and contract length.

Ake never quite nailed down a starting spot at City, so I'm not convinced he'll be first choice in Istanbul either.

To make the most of Ake's arrival, Fenerbahce should pair him with a local centre back for better communication.
