Kenneth Okonkwo Slams Igbo Supporters of Tinubu as 'Political Scavengers'

Kenneth Okonkwo Slams Igbo Supporters of Tinubu as 'Political Scavengers'

Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has criticised men from the South East who joined the City Boy Movement, a support group for President Tinubu’s re-election. In a recent interview, Okonkwo labelled them “political scavengers” feeding on the “rotten crumbs” from Tinubu’s table. He argued that true Igbo dignity comes from self-sufficiency, likening proud hunters in Isiagu to lions rather than vultures. Okonkwo insisted he would rather “starve and die in dignity” than accept handouts he views as insulting to the Igbo spirit.

What do you think motivates those Igbo supporters to join Tinubu's movement despite Okonkwo's harsh words?

You're right, there must be strong hopes for Tinubu's policies or maybe support comes from shared interests despite criticisms.

I know Okonkwo's comment sounds harsh, but supporters might genuinely trust Tinubu's vision and plans.

It's interesting how Okonkwo frames it as scavenging when political alliances often shift based on opportunity.

I'm not convinced labeling volunteers as scavengers helps build unity or address real concerns in the region.

Perhaps local leaders should engage Tinubu supporters directly to understand their hopes and address grievances before resorting to insults.
