FUT Ilaro Unveils 1.6MW Solar Mini-Grid and New Police Post
The Federal Government, through TETFund, has launched a 1.6MWp/1.5MWh solar mini-grid at the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro. The three-acre installation will supply stable power for teaching, research, innovation, and other campus activities. It will also reduce dependence on the national grid and support the school’s transformation into a leading University of Technology. At the same ceremony, the university commissioned a newly built Police Post for the Nigeria Police Force. The facility aims to strengthen campus security, improve emergency response times, and foster collaboration between national security agencies and the surrounding community. Key officials from TETFund introduced project consultants and contractors from Zango Corporate Innovation Limited. University leaders thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, and other stakeholders for their support. The university’s management reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property. They praised the Inspector-General of Police for approving a new Squadron Command on campus and pledged to provide a safe environment throughout the installation phase.
