1 / 2

Nollywood veteran Fausat Balogun, fondly called Madam Saje, has shared the hardship she endured before her big break. In a recent interview with The African List, she recalled shooting films without pay and even stealing food to survive. She described days when she and her friends would travel to Oyo State, use their small savings to buy amala, and collect soup elsewhere just to get by. Madam Saje stressed that every job comes with challenges. She urged young actors not to rush their destiny but to wait for their moment, promising that success will arrive when the time is right. She also revealed that she stopped formal schooling at primary level, which affected her ability to speak English fluently. Despite this, she thanked those who mentored her and celebrated landing a major endorsement deal.
