Spain Reopens Embassy in Tehran and Orders Ambassador’s Return
Spain’s Foreign Minister announced that the country will immediately reopen its embassy in Tehran. Ambassador Antonio Sanchez-Benedito has been instructed to return and resume all embassy operations. The move follows a 14-day ceasefire agreed upon by the United States, Israel and Iran. Spain had suspended its embassy activities on March 7 after U.S. and Israeli airstrikes. Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said Spain wants to “contribute from all fronts, including from Tehran, to efforts for peace.” He also criticized Israel’s continued attacks in Lebanon as “a disgrace” and warned they could undermine the ceasefire.
