Bolu Fayose Trounces Deputy Speaker in APC Assembly Primary

Bolu Fayose Trounces Deputy Speaker in APC Assembly Primary

The APC House of Assembly primary in Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency II ended with Bolu Fayose scoring a sweeping win over incumbent Hakeem Jamiu. Fayose secured 4,165 votes to Jamiu’s 372, dominating every ward. He led 955 to 171 in Igbemo Ekiti and 1,140 to 10 in Iworoko. The trend held in Are (392–22), Awo (414–20), and Eyio/Ensore (724–149). In Afao Ward, Fayose won with 540 votes while Jamiu recorded none. Observers say this upset strengthens the Fayose family’s sway in Ekiti APC, despite their longstanding ties to the PDP.

A 4,165 to 372 margin across every ward looks unusually lopsided for a primary election and raises turnout and candidate profile questions.

It's risky to assume this result reflects genuine support; such sweeping wins often involve behind-the-scenes negotiations and local power plays.

Political observers should track subsequent ward-level engagement and candidate outreach to understand if this victory translates into actual constituency support.
