The Socceroos opened their Group D campaign with a 2-0 victory over Turkey, with Irankunda firing in the opener. “I scored on my World Cup debut and it feels amazing,” Irankunda said. “We defended and attacked with everything we had. It wasn’t our best display, but the result is what matters and we’re excited for what’s next.” He added that personal records are secondary. “I just aim to give my all for the country that gave me everything.”
