1 / 4

Residents in Gada–Okemeta–Ayinrin, Ibiye, Olorunda LCDA, Lagos State, are facing severe flooding after the Gada Canal overflowed. They have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for immediate intervention. At least five families have abandoned their homes, and many more remain at risk as rising waters threaten lives and property. Vulnerable groups, including the elderly, nursing mothers, and children, are especially in danger. The communities are calling on the Lagos State Government and LASEMA to dredge and clear the canal, deploy flood-control teams, and provide emergency evacuation, temporary shelter, and relief supplies. They warn that without swift action, displacement and loss of life could worsen.
