US Applicants Must Submit Nigerian Visa Requests Directly at Embassy as Third-Party Service Ends

US Applicants Must Submit Nigerian Visa Requests Directly at Embassy as Third-Party Service Ends

The Nigeria Immigration Service has terminated its contract with its US-based visa processor, OIS Services. Effective immediately, travellers must lodge visa applications in person at the Nigerian embassy in Washington, DC or at the consulates in New York and Atlanta. The agency did not explain the abrupt decision but has assured applicants of a seamless handover. Both the embassy and consulates say they are fully equipped to manage submissions, processing and approvals without disruption. Prospective visitors should monitor official communications from the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigerian diplomatic missions in the US for further instructions and updates.

Has anyone here already planned their visit to the Nigerian embassy in Washington, DC for visa application since OIS Services contract ended?

It seems odd that the service was dropped so abruptly without any online alternative for busy applicants outside DC, New York, and Atlanta.

Are we sure lodging in person won't improve processing speed? Centralizing applications at embassies might streamline things after all.
