Lagos Taskforce Arrests 45 Beggars, Including Nine Children, in Oshodi, Agege and CMS
The Lagos State Government says its enforcement teams have arrested 45 beggars across multiple raids in Oshodi, Agege and CMS. Authorities report that the group included adults, teenagers and nine children. Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab confirmed the figures and said operations are ongoing in other areas such as Admiralty Way, Lekki and Addo Road in Ajah. The effort aims to clear major routes of street begging and provide support for vulnerable individuals. Residents urged the government to couple enforcement with rehabilitation and social services to address the root causes of street begging.
