Why Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso Strengthen Tinubu’s Grip Instead of Challenging Him
I argue there is no real opposition in Nigeria today. All major figures share the same approach as those in power and no one has offered a truly different vision. If all the sidelined politicians united, they could unseat the current leadership in 2027. But they have not presented a coherent plan to show they would govern differently. They exploit public anger over incompetence, corruption, ethnic bias and widespread hardship under the current administration. Even a short break from these problems is enough to win support. Yet they remain divided. The recent Supreme Court ruling on ADC leadership exposed their lack of unity. Neither Obi nor Kwankwaso responded. Rumours say they are eyeing other parties and no longer care about internal party processes.
