Kano Govt Launches Probe into N500m Theft of Therapeutic Food for Children

Kano Govt Launches Probe into N500m Theft of Therapeutic Food for Children

The Kano State Government has set up a high-powered committee to investigate the alleged diversion and sale of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) meant for malnourished children. The committee, inaugurated by the Health Commissioner on behalf of the governor, must uncover how the supplements were diverted, identify those responsible and determine the quantity and value of the missing stock. Chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, the 18-member panel will recommend disciplinary actions and submit its findings within 14 days. The government stressed that over N500 million was spent on the life-saving products and vowed to prosecute anyone found guilty of undermining child health interventions.
