Honour Agreements to End ASUU Strikes and Save Universities

ASUU’s renewed threat of strikes in several states highlights a damaging cycle in Nigeria’s public universities. Promises made by federal and state governments have been ignored or delayed. Broken commitments erode trust and fuel unrest. Students face prolonged delays in graduation. Research projects suffer from frequent disruptions. Governments must back agreements with clear plans, adequate funding and open dialogue. ASUU should pursue all dispute resolution channels before striking. Stability in higher education is vital for national development. Honouring agreements will protect students, lecturers and Nigeria’s future.
