CRPP Rebukes Edo Information Commissioner Over Stadium Stampede Response

CRPP Rebukes Edo Information Commissioner Over Stadium Stampede Response

The Coalition of Registered Political Parties has warned Edo State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, to tread carefully after his reaction to a recent stampede. CRPP says Afegbua derided the group, labeling it unregistered and using uncivil language, instead of clarifying why over 50 students collapsed and were hospitalized at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. The coalition accused him of misinforming citizens and confusing pressure groups with political parties. It defended its role as a self-funded voice of the people that holds governments to account. CRPP also highlighted Afegbua’s past dismissals and electoral defeat. It warned that continued attacks on the opposition risk inviting public ridicule. He could not be reached for comment.
