Saraki Rejects Kwara Governor’s Armed Robbery Charges, Vows to Fight in Court

Ordinarily I would shrug off the governor’s bid to reopen armed robbery charges from the Offa incident eight years ago. I had no part in that crime and two legal opinions in 2018 found no evidence linking me. Many Nigerians were surprised by his move. So I must state clearly that I am not connected directly or indirectly to any such offence. The governor hid the DPP reports in his paid adverts and hopes to use these frivolous charges to defame me. My legal team will meet him in court and prove this is an abuse of process. Meanwhile, the state still reels from a severe security crisis with hundreds of lives lost under his watch. He should focus on protecting citizens, not settling political scores. I trust the judiciary to sort the facts and deliver justice.

Given Saraki's denial and past legal opinions, what proof does the governor really have to reopen those robbery charges?

You're right, without fresh evidence the governor's case feels weak. He needs solid proof before moving forward.

I agree, it's tough to understand what new evidence the governor has to reopen those charges.

It's interesting that both 2018 opinions found no evidence, yet these old charges resurface now during a political term.

I'm not convinced this is purely legal strategy—could political rivalry be the real motive behind dragging up eight-year-old accusations?

Saraki's best move might be to gather new witness statements and challenge any weak points in court without delay.
