Lagos Red Line Rail to Reach Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminals

Lagos Red Line Rail to Reach Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminals

Federal Government will extend the existing Lagos Red Line rail from the Ikeja Bus Stop straight to both the domestic and international wings of Murtala Muhammed Airport. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo announced this plan at the Invest Lagos 3.0 opening ceremony. He said the extension will link the rail line through Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited to MMIA Two and the international terminal. The project aims to boost access to Nigeria’s busiest airport and transform Lagos into a major aviation and logistics hub. The government has also allocated about $500 million to modernise the airport’s old terminal and attract local and foreign investment.

How do you think extending the Red Line rail to both airport terminals will change daily commutes or travel experiences in Lagos?

This extension will cut travel time to airports and ease traffic stress for daily commuters.

It's promising on paper, but Lagos projects often face funding and execution delays before anything reaches completion.

I'm not convinced the rail extension will solve traffic chaos. Last mile connections and regular service frequency matter more.

They should coordinate with road authorities and build clear signage. Make dem ensure station access roads are ok to avoid wahala for passengers.
