Fact Check: Pastor Adeboye’s Prayer Walk Wasn’t a Protest Against Jonathan

Fact Check: Pastor Adeboye’s Prayer Walk Wasn’t a Protest Against Jonathan — 1 of 8
1 / 8

A photo of Pastor E.A. Adeboye holding a placard has been misrepresented online as a protest against President Goodluck Jonathan. The image actually shows a peaceful prayer walk held on February 2, 2020, at the directive of the Christian Association of Nigeria under President Buhari’s administration. Churches nationwide joined the walk to call for protection of all citizens amid rising violence. Pastor Adeboye used his platform to urge that every life matters. He later offered counsel to the President in a 2025 service on tackling insecurity and warned against allowing foreign intervention under the guise of fighting terrorism.
