Belgium Seizes British Military Components Bound for Israel

Belgium Seizes British Military Components Bound for Israel

Belgium has intercepted two shipments of military parts from Britain destined for Israel. The country recently banned aircraft carrying military equipment for Israel from landing or using its airspace. Authorities in Brussels were alerted by news outlets, NGOs and activist groups. The consignments left Britain on March 23 and were seized at Liege airport on March 24. A specialist engineer discovered fire control systems and spare parts for military aircraft, which lacked proper export authorization. Belgian prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation but have not publicly named the firms involved. The Walloon regional government later identified Moog, an American aerospace company with factories in Britain, as one of the companies under investigation.

Belgium can still support oversight by calling for transparent investigations into cargo routes rather than outright bans alone.
