Lions Club Launches Eco-Friendly Drive in Ikorodu Markets
As part of Environment Week under District 404A3, the Eko Centennial Lions Club visited Agura and Gberigbe markets in Ikorodu to distribute reusable shopping bags and promote responsible waste management. The campaign aims to tackle plastic pollution that clogs drains, fuels flooding, and harms local communities. Volunteers also shared tips on proper disposal and recycling during direct engagements with traders and residents. Club president Kehinde Mustapha said that simple daily choices like swapping single-use plastics for reusable bags can drive long-term environmental change. She stressed that community involvement is key to sustaining cleaner surroundings. Before the market outreach, the team paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Alagura of Agura. The monarch praised the initiative and urged everyone to support efforts for a cleaner, healthier community.
