Ending Unemployment: Guaranteeing a Right to Livelihood Through Universal Basic Income

There should never be mass unemployment. We can enshrine the right to a means of livelihood as a fundamental human right and introduce a universal basic income with clear responsibilities. Governments could assign academic, remote, or part-time tasks to those on benefits. Sharing work ensures nobody remains idle and adds value to both society and the individual. Steady work restores dignity, provides mental stimulation, and acts as occupational therapy. Employed citizens are less likely to fall into drug abuse or crime. Financing this vision requires a higher tax-to-GDP ratio. A robust revenue base is essential to guarantee work for every citizen.

Start by piloting UBI in select regions, track outcomes, then scale based on data to ensure sustainable funding and accountability.
