DLA Presidential Aspirant Resigns, Accuses Party of Imposed Consensus Plot
A cleared presidential hopeful in the Democratic Leadership Alliance has quit the party, alleging a plan to impose a single candidate ahead of the 2027 election. Mrs. Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju said her screening clearance was later challenged over a minor WhatsApp message. She claims state leaders were told to skip primaries and submit figures to the national secretariat to force a consensus selection. Citing the Electoral Act requirement for all aspirants’ written consent, she resigned on Inauguration Day. She says she will continue her advocacy through the Dare Agenda and #DareNigeria movement and decide her next steps with supporters at the right time.
