Otti’s Three-Year Scorecard: 414 Roads, Health Insurance and Free Education Gains
Governor Alex Otti used a recent media chat at the renovated Okpara Auditorium to outline key achievements from his first three years in office. He highlighted the completion of 414 road projects spanning 864 km, with 82 more roads under construction. He also recovered misappropriated state assets and cut Abia’s debt from ₦191 billion to about ₦60 billion, boosting fiscal transparency rankings. In health, 821 new professionals were recruited, and 193,000 residents now benefit from the state insurance scheme. The administration retrofitted 277 PHCs and upgraded major hospitals. On education, free basic schooling drove enrollment past 300,000 pupils and led to hiring over 5,000 teachers. Land reform delivered 4,707 Certificates of Occupancy and a new Aba Master Plan. Environmental and transport initiatives created jobs, launched electric shuttles, and modernised terminals. Otti also reported progress in the judiciary, renewable energy court halls, and consistent salary payments, calling these reforms a restoration of public trust.
