Hope Waddell Training Institute Marks 131st Anniversary with Hall of Fame Inductions for Zik and Gov’s Wife
Hope Waddell Training Institute in Calabar marked its 131st anniversary by inducting 60 distinguished alumni into its new Hall of Fame and Museum. Nigeria’s first President, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, and the wife of Cross River Governor Bassey Otu were among those honoured. Mr Ekpo Akiba, National President of the Old Students Association, described the initiative as a strategic effort to preserve the school’s heritage and inspire future generations. The Hall of Fame will celebrate discipline, character, service and excellence, while documenting the achievements of all inductees. Speakers, including the Chairman of the Cross River State Internal Revenue Service, praised the project and encouraged ongoing support. The museum will evolve as a living repository, showcasing the impact of Hope Waddell alumni and motivating younger students to uphold their alma mater’s values.
