How AI Scriptwriting Is Eroding Nollywood’s Creative Soul
For decades, Nollywood thrived on originality and cultural storytelling. Today, many producers rely on AI to generate full scripts in minutes. This shift threatens the industry’s identity and the quality of its films. I was shocked when producers casually told me they no longer need human writers. By inputting a title or a few ideas, they now receive complete screenplays almost instantly. The result is a flood of shallow, repetitive films built on sensationalism rather than meaning. Veteran actors warn that meaningful storytelling is disappearing. Talented screenwriters struggle to stay relevant as quick content takes over. Nigeria must restore the value of handcrafted scripts. AI should support – not replace – human creativity.
